Friday Morning Model Sessions

Friday mornings 9am-12

$10 per day

This is an opportunity you can't find anywhere else in Hawaii.

ZAFA hosts open figure drawing and painting sessions. The goal of these sessions is to give artist time working from live models. These poses are longer than most model sessions held on the islands. Each pose consists of a single pose that is carried over for 3 consecutive weeks. This gives artist the opportunity to make more in-depth studies of the figure. In addition to the the extra time on these poses, models are also arranged in a staged environment. This gives artist the option to create scenes and practice painting figures in a context, rather than just being limited to quick sketches. Often times artist complete finished oil paintings over the course pose.

Because the pose carries over, participants have the option to reserve a spot from week to week to insure that they can continue the drawing or painting from where they were working the week prior. To reserve an easel for multiple weeks, payment for all sessions you will be attending are made during the first session you attend. For a 3 week pose, this would be $30 paid during the first session.

People are invited to drop by and sketch for a day or reserve an easel and continue their painting the following week.

Easels, drawing boards, and a space to store their work from week to week are provided. Artists are responsible for bringing their own drawing and painting materials each week. All drawing and painting media are welcome. Artist have brought watercolors, oil paints, acrylic, ink, clay sculpting supplies, as even worked on their computers using Wacom tablets.

Hope to see you there
