In this class we will be painting a classical portrait from life. We will be reviewing how to draw a portrait using the method of sight size and how to construct a believable sense of form through organization of values. We will review the important anatomical landmarks necessary in constructing a head as well as how to capture an accurate likeness to the sitter. Students will also learn how to identify, organize and mix accurate flesh tones and balance the warm and cool tones found in nature. Instruction will be conducted through a step-by-step approach with live painting demonstrations, lectures, and daily personalized critiques. The one-on-one nature of the instruction allows all skill levels to participate in this course.
